Powell Room

Powell Room

This was the dining room of the Regency House and a curved Sheraton style mahogany sideboard, made in Ashford, Kent to John Powell Powell's order in 1814, has been retained. The curved wall, the line of which is continued in the doors at either side, is said to have been constructed to remind John Powell Powell of the cabin of his yachts. A small display of items relating to John Powell Powell can be seen in one of the cabinets. This room was later used as the principal guest bedroom and so furnished with the four poster bed.
