Hall

The Hall is within the original Regency house but has been much altered and enlarged. Originally an elegant iron and black marble staircase, in the centre of the room, led to the principal rooms of the house situated on the first floor. The area adjacent to the fireplace was then part of the basement wine cellars. The room is furnished with tables and chairs of oak from the 17th and 18th centuries. There are displays of items of family interest and sea paintings, including some of naval actions in which Charles Bowland Cotton (1768 - 1847), the Major's great grandfather, was involved.
