Oriental Drawing Room
This single-storeyed structure was built when Quex House was extended in 1883 and was originally used as a ballroom for entertaining, most notably to celebrate the 21st birthday of Percy Cotton in 1887. Major Powell-Cotton refurbished and redecorated the room using Kashmir walnut panelling made specially for it. The oriental furniture gives the room a style that was popular in the 19th century and is very appropriate in view of the earlier connections of the Cotton family with the East India Company.
