School Visits
School visits can range from a gallery activity through to a full study day each with objects to handle from the museum collection.
Our commitment to schools is that when you book a study day with us during the winter months you will have the whole museum to yourselves and our staff solely organised to provide a memorable experience.
With a collection and display style that enables quick access to many areas of study within the National Curriculum we are able to meet the varied needs of a cross curriculum visit.
Local studies
Our local history collections start with the stone age and range through Celtic, Roman and Saxon Kent before widening out to include the diaries of one of Kent’s most prolific explorers.
For Kent schools there is a wealth of archaeological material and local history resources to investigate the history and people of Kent.
The 200 year old Powell-Cotton family home, Quex House, reflects the changing style and taste of a country family through the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian eras. A family of keen photographers means that we have an archive of over 40,000 still images and hours of moving images from Kent as well as Africa.
Key Stage 1
In our handling collection we have African objects to support a range of National Curriculum activities.
Key Stage 2
Investigate our comprehensive archive to find out about Historic Kent and our international links.
Key Stage 3
Debate the ethical issues surrounding our environment and how we use it.
